F.A.Q.
These are some of the most frequently asked questions so we thought to mention all of those here.
We specialize in epilepsy, migraines, memory issues, stroke prevention, Parkinson’s
disease, and nerve problems (neuropathies).
You’ll experience personalized care, fast results, and clear explanations from
internationally-trained specialists in a convenient, comfortable location.
If you experience persistent fatigue, loud snoring, trouble falling asleep, waking
frequently during the night, or excessive daytime sleepiness, a sleep specialist can help
diagnose and effectively treat underlying sleep disorders, greatly improving your overall
quality of life.
An EEG (electroencephalogram) is a safe, painless test that records the electrical activity
of your brain. It helps identify neurological conditions like epilepsy, seizure disorders,
and other brain-related issues.
A sleep study is a comprehensive overnight test that monitors various body functions
during sleep, including brain activity, breathing patterns, oxygen levels, and heart
rhythms. It helps diagnose sleep-related conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia,
restless leg syndrome, and more.
Both EEG and sleep studies are safe, non-invasive procedures. EEG tests typically take
about an hour, while sleep studies involve an overnight stay in a comfortable, private
suite.
For an EEG (brain-wave test)
• Wash your hair the night before. Come with dry hair and no oil, gel, or spray.
• Eat as usual.
• Take your regular medicines unless the doctor has told you to stop.
• Skip tea, coffee, energy drinks, and cola for 6 hours before the test; caffeine
can change the reading.
For an overnight sleep study
• Same clean-hair rule as above.
• Bring loose, comfy night clothes; the room is private and air-conditioned.
• Avoid caffeine and alcohol after 2 p.m. on test day.
• Bring all your medicines and a written list. If you use a sleeping pill, ask your
doctor whether to take it that night.
• People with diabetes: pack a late-night snack and your glucose meter.
Frequent or severe headaches may be signs of underlying neurological conditions like
migraines or tension headaches. A neurologist can accurately diagnose the cause of your
headaches and develop a targeted treatment plan to significantly improve your quality
of life.
Loud snoring + daytime sleepiness often suggest sleep apnea—your throat closes for a few seconds again and again while you sleep. This breaks deep sleep and strains the heart and brain. A sleep doctor can confirm the problem with a night study and start treatments (like a CPAP breathing mask) that help you breathe freely and wake up fresh.
Hours slept ≠ good sleep. Tiny “wake-ups” from apnea, leg jerks, an off-schedule body
clock, hormone changes, or certain medicines can leave you tired even after a long
night. A check-up looks at your airway, leg movements, sleep timing, thyroid, and daily
habits to find the hidden cause.
Constant “pins and needles” may be nerve damage (neuropathy). Diabetes, low vitamin
B12, thyroid trouble, or a slipped disc can cause it. Early nerve tests and blood tests spot
the problem and let us treat it before weakness or balance issues begin.
If you experience symptoms such as persistent headaches, dizziness, memory loss,
tremors, numbness, or seizures, a neurological evaluation can provide answers and
relief.

EEG: One relative may sit with you; the test takes about an hour.
Sleep study: A helper can settle you in but must leave before lights-off at 10 PM so the
room stays quiet. Children or very sick patients can have a caregiver stay—just let us
know in advance.
