Brain & Seizure Testing in Gurgaon

EEG • Video EEG • NCV/EMG • Evoked Potentials • PSG Sleep Study • Home Sleep Apnea Testing • MSLT • ECG

Brain & Seizure Testing helps diagnose epilepsy, seizures, blackouts, and abnormal brain activity through advanced EEG and Video EEG monitoring. Early and accurate diagnosis supports effective treatment planning and improved neurological health.

Not sure which test you need? Start with your symptom.

Seizures, spells, blackouts, staring episodes → EEG / Video EEG
Numbness, tingling, burning feet, nerve pain → NCV / EMG
Weakness, foot drop, radiating neck/back pain → NCV / EMG
Snoring, choking/gasping, witnessed apnea → PSG / HSAT
Daytime sleepiness, falling asleep unintentionally → PSG ± MSLT
Restless legs or kicking during sleep → PSG when clinically indicated
Palpitations, fainting-like episodes, basic screening → ECG ± physician evaluation

Note: The final test recommendation should be made after clinical evaluation. Some symptoms may require urgent hospital care rather than outpatient testing.

Brain & Seizure Testing

EEG

Brain activity test for seizures, spells, blackouts, and altered awareness. An EEG records the brain’s electrical activity and helps evaluate seizures, epilepsy, fainting-like episodes, staring spells, unexplained blackouts, and selected sleep-related or neurological symptoms.

Sleep-Deprived EEG

A more sensitive EEG option when routine EEG is not enough. A sleep-deprived EEG may be recommended when seizure suspicion remains high or when the doctor wants to increase the chance of capturing abnormal brain activity.

Video EEG Monitoring

EEG with video recording for difficult-to-classify events. Video EEG can help evaluate recurrent spells, seizure-like episodes, staring events, unusual movements, or suspected PNES/FND by matching brain activity with what is happening physically.

What happens before, during, and after testing

Before the test

Our team confirms the test type, appointment timing, preparation instructions, medications to discuss, and what to bring.

During the test

A trained team performs the study using standard recording methods. For sleep studies and video EEG, monitoring may continue for several hours or overnight depending on the test.

After the test

Reports are reviewed and interpreted, then connected back to your clinical plan. The goal is not just a report — it is a clear next step.

How to Prepare

  • For EEG: come with clean, dry hair; avoid oil/gel; discuss medications with the doctor; sleep instructions if sleep-deprived EEG is planned.
  • For NCV/EMG: wear loose clothing; avoid heavy lotions/oils; bring prior MRI/lab reports if available; tell the doctor if on blood thinners or if you have a pacemaker/implantable device.
  • For PSG: bring comfortable nightwear; avoid excess caffeine/alcohol; bring regular medications and CPAP if already using one; arrive on time for sensor setup.
  • For MSLT: usually performed after an overnight PSG; follow sleep schedule instructions; medication review is important.

Seizures, unexplained blackouts, staring spells, sudden loss of awareness, and unusual body movements can be frightening for both patients and families. Identifying the underlying cause quickly is essential because not every seizure-like episode is epilepsy. Advanced brain and seizure testing helps neurologists understand what is happening inside the brain, leading to a more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan. EEG and Video EEG testing are among the most effective tools used to evaluate abnormal brain activity, suspected epilepsy, recurrent seizures, and other neurological conditions.

What Is Brain & Seizure Testing?

Brain and seizure testing refers to specialized neurodiagnostic procedures that record and analyze the brain's electrical activity. These tests help detect abnormal brain wave patterns associated with seizures, epilepsy, fainting episodes, unexplained blackouts, altered consciousness, and certain sleep-related neurological disorders. The most commonly recommended tests include Routine EEG, Sleep-Deprived EEG, and Video EEG Monitoring. Each test provides valuable information that helps neurologists determine whether symptoms are related to epilepsy or another neurological condition.

When Should You Consider Seizure Testing?

Your doctor may recommend brain and seizure testing if you experience:

  • Recurrent seizures or convulsions
  • Unexplained blackouts or fainting episodes
  • Sudden loss of awareness
  • Staring spells or behavioral changes
  • Memory lapses without a clear cause
  • Sleep-related abnormal movements
  • Suspected epilepsy
  • Unusual sensory experiences, such as strange smells, sounds, or sensations

Early evaluation can help identify neurological disorders before they affect daily life, work performance, education, or overall well-being.

Types of Brain & Seizure Tests

Routine EEG (Electroencephalogram)

An EEG is a non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of the brain through small sensors placed on the scalp. It is commonly used to investigate seizures, epilepsy, altered consciousness, and unexplained neurological symptoms.

Sleep-Deprived EEG

A sleep-deprived EEG may be recommended when a routine EEG does not provide enough information. Sleep deprivation can increase the likelihood of detecting abnormal brain activity, improving diagnostic accuracy in selected patients.

Video EEG Monitoring

Video EEG combines continuous brain-wave recording with synchronized video observation. This advanced test helps neurologists correlate physical symptoms with brain activity, making it particularly useful for recurrent unexplained episodes, difficult-to-diagnose seizures, and distinguishing epileptic from non-epileptic events.

Why Accurate Seizure Diagnosis Matters

A precise diagnosis helps avoid unnecessary medications, reduces the risk of untreated epilepsy, and guides the most effective treatment strategy. Proper seizure testing can help determine seizure type, identify triggers, monitor treatment effectiveness, and support long-term neurological care. Modern neurodiagnostic testing plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
